I could not agree more.
When I read Touching the Void by Joe Simpson it was breath of fresh air.
He survived a horrific experience beyond the ability of most people to even comprehend. But thank god... that he never did. I don't care if you believe in god or not.
It was Joe who climbed out of that crevasse, it was Joe who crawled across a glacier with a broken leg and survived an ordeal beyond the levels of endurance that most people could even imagine.
It was not god who gave him the strength, it was Joe who found it in himself.
